Thanksgiving, 2009

Hey all,
I would love to hear what you are thankful for in your life today. It's so easy for us (human nature, really) to talk about what we hate or want to change or are bummed about, but we don't often focus and NAME the good things in our lives. It's almost like we have to fight against that negative nature in order to see that which is good (even if it feels like very, very little at the time).
So if you get a chance in this next month, post here what is good in your life. It is amazing how a simple thing like acknowledging that there is good, can change your outlook and actually bring more of that goodness to you.
I know this sounds kind of "hippy dippy", but it is true, and those damn hippies are happy and content with life for a reason! (I mean, besides the weed :-))
So, let's here it. You only live once; might as well meditate on the good of that life, right?

New School Year

Hey all,
It is a new school year which means many of you are off to new adventures in education and life. If you feel so inclined, do update us on what you are doing and where you are. I am still teaching in Orange County and loving it!
Let us know how you are!

To answer some recent questions...

1.  No, the blog hasn't "died" but without you little turkeys posting, it sure as heck isn't "living"!
2.  By all means, if you have a copy of the book, make as many freaking copies of it as you'd like and pass it out to the mailman if you want.  We have no restrictions anymore.
3.  Which brings me to point #3:  my school is out next week and I PROMISE to devote much of my summer to getting our book into the hands of editors, publishers and agents.  It too good to let go of, and no matter how much time passes, every single person I show it to is absolutely awestruck.  I'm am sooo not giving up - just need a bit of free time to work on it.

4.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF MY 2009 GRADUATES!!!!!
Even though I wasn't there with you for your senior year, I am so proud of you all and who you are.  And, truth be told, even if you didn't graduate but should have (and could have, if you really wanted to), I am proud of you, too.  All of you are amazing and so great to teach.  I will never forget my Rialto classes of 08 and 09 because of the journey we shared together.  Let's hope that one day real soon, it brings us all back together on the Oprah Show! :)

Updated, finally

Hey gang,
Sorry it's been such a long time since I've updated the blog. The last few times I did, there was nothing new to post, so I kinda let it go for a while. But today I see 6 new posts, so I apologize to those who posted a month ago and has yet to see it published. I wasn't ignoring you, just off doing other things!
If you are still checking, please post something for us to read. If we don't personally make use of this blog, then there is no point to it.
Someone was asking about the books. Nothing has come of them (yet) but I'm not giving up. I stole a box of them back from "the man" the last day of school, but most of you had already gone home. I gave them to whoever was still around, but that was not very many. Every person I show the book to is amazed and humbled by it, no matter their race, gender, economic status, or level of education. That tells me that we created something incredibly powerful, and we just need to get it into the hands of someone who is not afraid of the truth and has the guts to publish it. I know it is possible; I just don't know who to talk to.
So, there is hope yet, and I promise to let you all know if anything ever comes of it. You know, sometimes with these things, nothing happens for years and years, and then bam! So we shall see.
