Justice Prevails!
It is now July and I should have posted this last month, for one week after I resigned from Rialto, I was hired by an amazing charter high school in Orange County. In my interview I even told them the entire book fiasco and my "issues" with the principal and subsequent assistant superintendent, and they STILL hired me!!!!! I feel like I am in heaven...and can't believe I get to work for such open, outside of the box people. So kids, the lesson for today is, justice does prevail sometimes, and so does standing up for what you believe in. Yeah truth!

Good for you, Ms. Velin. Hope they'll let us visit you there.
Congratz Ms. Velin!!! At least you got a job into a way better school because, let's face it, this school's administration is a total joke. You have my total support and I hope you and your husband go forth and do what you do:-) By the way, on behalf of the AP class of 2009, I thank you very much for the education you have given us. You are a great teacher and I am sure the children you will be teaching at the new school in Orange County will we blessed to have such a teacher like you. Good luck Ms. Velin, we will all miss you dearly!!!
Congratulations Ms. Velin! Those jerks at Rialto wouldn't know justice even if it bites it in the nose. We'll miss you terribly, but we're proud of your success!! :)Huzzah for justice!
Ms.Velin...
I just wanted to say how proud I am of you with how you handled the whole situation. It had a rocky start (obviously!) but you handled it so well and you are an inspiration to so many people in Rialto. You will be missed by me!
When I went to Girls State I told our story about The book and my city could not believe how the system was treating the whole situation and even said they wanted to buy the book!!!
Please keep fighting for our book to be published I know it will go far as with your success.
Thanks, Tiff. I am still working on getting it into the hands of someone who can do something...one day.
And congrats on Girls' State. I went to Rialto today to clean out my room and was going to steal back the rest of the books, but, not surprisingly, they were gone. He probably took them with him so he could personally burn them. But, I still have the originals and a few copies. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Ms. Velin!!!
I miss you already :'( You were, and are, one of the best teachers I ever had. I hope you are having a magnificent summer :D Tell Mr. Phlin it was cool meeting him!!!! Come visit us at Rialto sometime, please!
Hi Ms. Velin!!
I'm glad to hear that you got a new job. You deserved a better job than the one in rialto. I can't believe you are still trying to do something about the books, I thought everyone had forgotten abut them but I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one that still remembers our books. And one day I hope to see our books published for the world to read what really happens in the lives of high school students. I still hate the fact that they took away our books but I hope someday I will be ale to get a copy. You were a great teacher and I hope you get to visit us someday.
I had an excellent Labor Day. My mom has superb cooking skills 8) Now that, my friends, is justice.
